Diddy Was Legitimately Scared After Falling at the BET Awards
Diddy and his son are making their rounds at various New York radio stations. Their first stop is The Breakfast Club, where Puff talked about his new single, “Finna Get Loose,” his infamous fall at this year’s BET Awards and whether he actually was trying to sue (he’s not), his liquor beef with 50 Cent and much more.
Puff Daddy and the Bad Boy family was a huge reunion performance that was an unforgettable moment. The collective, ranging from Faith Evans and Lil Kim to Ma$e and Pharrell, took social media by storm when they ran through their historic catalog. But midway through the set, Puff took an epic fall through the trap door. We all saw how embarrassing it might’ve of been for him, but what was he really thinking?
“As I’m falling in the hole, it’s actually... time has slowed down dramatically,” he says. “We talking about — it’s like 10 seconds, I’m falling. I’m like, ‘Yo, my name is Puff Daddy. I’m one of the coolest cats in the world. There’s 35 million people watching. You about to be the guy that fell in the hole. No. No way, Sean.’”
After more self-motivation talk, Puff says that he really wanted to pick himself up and stay on beat. “I landed back on beat! I turned around. Make sure you didn’t see a second of embarrassment. But I was scared. I never been this afraid in my life. Just imagine embarrassing yourself with no comeback — you don’t fall down, you fall through a hole. Couldn’t be me.”
Later on in the conversation, he also confirms that he did have altercations with Drake and J. Cole, but that’s all in the past now. Watch the entire interview, below.
