Jazmine Sullivan Pens Emotional Note About Pregnancy Loss and Grieving Her Mom

In a touching message shared with fans on her 38th birthday, the singer vulnerably reflected on love, loss, and healing.

Jazmine Sullivan is reminding fans that even in heartbreak, there is strength. 

This week, the Grammy-winning singer marked her 38th birthday with a deeply personal reflection, opening up about navigating one of the most challenging seasons of her life. In a message shared to her Instagram Stories, the “Lost One” singer revealed not only her ongoing grief over losing her mother—but also the heartbreaking loss of her baby boy. 

“Whew… thank yall for ur birthday wishes. Leading up to my birthday has been incredibly hard as I’ve been thinking abt [sic] my mother and missing her more than words can say,” she wrote. Sullivan lost her mother, Pam, in 2023 after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

The singer went on to share another layer of pain she’s been carrying quietly. “Also as I realized I woulda been holding my 2 month old son that I never got to meet. So needless to say I’ve been down bad,” she continued. “But yesterday I had a massage that helped to release some of the deep pain I’ve been holding in for a while. So I’m grateful for that.”

Still, Sullivan ended her note with gratitude, letting fans know just how much their love and kindness means during this healing journey.

“I’m also grateful that so many of you think of me and take the time to write! It’s all so beautiful !!. Please continue to pray for me as I heal from life’s a--whopping.”

Her transparency sparked an immediate wave of love and support from fans and fellow artists alike.

R&B singer Monica wrote, “You truly never know what people are going through. That’s why kindness is key. Jazmine we love you and thank you for all that you’ve given us of yourself. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! You’re undoubtedly a gift.”  Another supporter added, “I pray she gets a chance to experience being a mom one day.”

Through it all, Sullivan’s vulnerability is yet another reminder of the beauty and bravery in sharing your story.
