Maryland Man Found Dead at Bahamas Resort Hours After Arriving for Family Vacation

The mother of 23-year-old Dinari McAlmont is now demanding answers after claiming her son’s face was bruised.

The family of a Bowie, Maryland, man is seeking justice after their loved one was found dead on a beach hours into their Bahamas vacation.

Authorities tell Fox5 DC News that 23-year-old Dinari McAlmont was discovered unresponsive on Paradise Island on Saturday (April 5). In a statement several days later, the Royal Bahamas Police Force confirmed that a postmortem examination determined McAlmont died from an apparent drowning.

A resort spokesperson said in a statement, “Our thoughts and condolences are with the guest’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.”

The victim had traveled to the Caribbean island with his parents and was staying at Atlantis Paradise Island, Bahamas. Police say, “foul play is not suspected at this time,” but noted that toxicology results are still pending as the investigation continues.

However, McAlmont’s mother, Michelle McAlmont, is raising questions about what happened to her son.

In an interview with Eyewitness News Bahamas, she said her son’s face appeared to be beaten when authorities showed her his body. “I need justice for my baby,” she said through tears. “I need justice.”

McAlmont’s death marks the latest high-profile cast involving American tourists on Paradise Island. Last summer, 42-year-old Chicago yoga instructor Taylor Casey went missing during a month-long retreat in the area. She has not been found.
