John Legend Has His Two Cents To Add To The "King of R&B" Debate
Well, well, well, it’s official... Decatur-bred R&B singer Jacquees sparked a full-scale war across the internet. The “B.E.D.” singer opted for a new title—the King of R&B— and soulful crooners from all eras weighed in with who they feel is better suited for the throne. R. Kelly surely hopped his ass into the ring with a sentiment. Chris Brown appreciates the love. Usher is speechless while Tank, Tyrese, Pleasure P and J. Holiday had more than a mouthful to say on the debate breaking the social media.
Now, singer-songwriter John Legend is chiming in with some thoughts of his own.
In a series of tweets, he penned, “Honestly I don't think there is a king of r&b right now”
The Get Lifted crooner continued, “Anyone consistently dominating the charts, selling out arenas, etc, a la Usher in his prime. Not a comment on quality. I think the throne is open right now.” Legend did mention he’d like to include Bruno Mars or The Weeknd into the debate, but feels “they don’t neatly fit into the genre.”
We can't wait to see who's up next with something to say.
