Bishop T.D. Jakes ‘Stable’ After Livestreamed Health Emergency During Sermon
Bishop T.D. Jakes is thankfully well after a health scare caught on a Sunday sermon livestream.
On Sunday, November 24, the pastor, author, and motivational speaker, 67, was giving a sermon at Potter's House of Dallas while seated. Jakes paused and visibly appeared to shake before a group rushed to his aid onstage. Before the incident, Jakes talked about his gratitude for preaching.
“Have you ever gone to a hospital to visit somebody and you thought it was going to encourage them, and they encourage you?” That's what preaching is like," he told the audience. “You think you're giving out something, you're getting back more than you gave.”
Before going silent, the pastor continued by quoting Psalm 19:14. “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, my redeemer, let them go in peace,” he said, quoting the Bible verse.
In the hours after Jakes’ spasm, in which he was immediately assisted, an update was given on X about his well-being.
“During today’s service, Bishop T.D. Jakes experienced a slight health incident and received immediate medical attention following his powerful hour long message,” the message read. “Bishop Jakes is stable and under the care of medical professionals. The entire Potter's House family is grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community.”
The statement concluded, “Thank you for your understanding and continued prayers.”
One day before the 9 A.M. CT sermon, Jakes encouraged his church following to join him for a spiritual “meal” ahead of Thanksgiving in an Instagram post, while another post from the church invited attendees for an “opportunity to soak up the warmth of family, feel the presence of the Holy Spirit, and receive a life-changing Word. 💜”
