Shaboozey to Headline Lions-Bears Thanksgiving Halftime Show After CMA Awards Snub
Despite being snubbed at the 58th Annual CMA Awards last week, Shaboozey will have a chance to reclaim his country music stardom during the Lions-Bears Thanksgiving game.
On Sunday, November 24, the Detroit Lions announced that the “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” musician will be the headlining act for their halftime show during their showdown against the Chicago Bears on Thursday, November 28.
The decision comes less than a week after Shaboozey lost in both CMA Awards categories that he was nominated in, New Artist of the Year and Single of the Year, although “A Bar Song” has been No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for 17 weeks. Shaboozey could still take home his first Grammy win in February 2025, as he’s nominated in five categories, including Best New Artist; Best Melodic Rap Performance for his “Spaghettii” collaboration with Beyoncé and Linda Martell; and Song of the Year, Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance for “A Bar Song.”
Shaboozey performed “Highway” and “A Bar Song” at the CMA Awards on November 20th, later expressing his gratitude for being nominated on X.
“Win or lose, I’m blessed by something or someone that has a power beyond my understanding,” Shaboozey wrote in one X post.
“I’m here today hopefully living in my purpose and if my music makes even the tiniest positive impact in someone’s life I can die with a smile. Country music changed my life and I’m forever grateful to it and for it,” he said in a follow-up post.
The Thanksgiving NFL game at Detroit’s Ford Field begins live at 12:30 E.T. on CBS.
