BET Wins Big at the 2016 NAACP Image Awards

Some major names were recognized at the non-televised dinner.

It was a night of Black excellence at the 2016 NAACP Image Awards, with wins from the likes of Taraji P. Henson, Michael B. Jordan, Tracee Ellis Ross and more. The main show wasn't the only stomping ground for premier Black entertainment — the non-televised awards dinner saw several members of the BET family win for their work.

BET won in three categories. Mara Brock Akil, Jameal Turner, and Keli Goff — the amazing team behind the creation and direction of Being Mary Jane — won in the category of Outstanding Writing in a Dramatic Series.

The documentary Muhammad Ali: The People's Champ, which premiered exclusively on BET, also won for Outstanding Documentary (TV); and Lawrence Hill and Clement Virgo took home the trophy for Outstanding Writing in a Motion Picture (TV) for their work on the BET original miniseries Book of Negroes.

Congratulations to all of the winners!
