Lil Boosie Found Not Guilty in Murder Trial

Jury clears Lil Boosie of first degree murder charge.

Lil Boosie scored a major victory in court today. After a day of deliberation a jury found Boosie not guilty of first degree murder. The rapper, famous for his hits with Webbie, "Wipe Me Down" and "Independent," was facing life imprisonment after being accused of paying Michael Louding $2,800 to kill Terry Boyd in 2009.
Louding changed his story once on the stand, telling the court on May 7 that he didn't commit the murder and only confessed in 2010 because police coerced him into doing so. Not even Boosie's song lyrics that allegedly proved his "personal intent" in the first-degree murder of Boyd were enough to sway the jury, who heard closing arguments this morning.
Defense attorneys for Boosie, 29, called no witnesses during the trial, instead opting to vigorously cross-examine a lengthy string of witnesses for the prosecution, who numbered 27, over six days.
Rochelle Wagner, Boyd's sister and the mother of Boosie's 5-year-old daughter, testified that her brother and Boosie did not have beef and that they were neither friends nor enemies.
Boosie, however, is still not a free man. Even though he beat the murder rap, he will remain imprisoned as he finishes out an eight-year prison sentence for drug charges.
