Diddy Talks MGK Signing

The mogul says his latest artist Machine Gun Kelly won't be "popping champagne."

If there's one thing that we know Sean "Diddy" Combs does exceptionally well, it's turning unknown talent into stars. The latest artist to sign with Diddy's Bad Boy Entertainment is Machine Gun Kelly, a white artist from Cleveland, Ohio, with mixed rap and rock influences, who is already destined to blow. Diddy skyped into an interview with MTV's RapFix to talk to show host Sway about MGK.

"He's one of the best live performers I've ever seen to come out in a minute," Diddy says. "He has just such a movement, just hundreds and thousands of loyal fans that came from the place he came from in different parts of the country."

Diddy explained how MGK was different and vowed to keep the artist's core fanbase. "He will not be changing for Bad Boy; he will not have a typical Bad Boy swag. He's not going to be popping champagne or driving around in Bentleys. He's gonna be him and true to himself. He has a lot of creative control in his project."

MGK signed a two-album deal with Bad Boy after Diddy won the bidding war between labels. His debut album, Lace Up, is due out in early 2012.
