Eve Reveals How Janet Jackson Came to Her Rescue After a Suspected Drink Spiking
In Eve’s new memoir Who’s That Girl?, she shared a story about how Janet Jackson came to her rescue at an afterparty following the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards.
The former Ruff Ryders rapper opened up about the time she believed her drink had been spiked. Jackson, alongside Missy Elliott, stepped in to help her during the frightening experience. Eve credits Janet with essentially "saving her life" in that moment, highlighting the importance of the support she received from the music icons.
“Missy came in to check on me, but I was just unable to collect myself. Then, who walks in, Janet Jackson. I had never met her before, and so her first introduction to me was seeing me hysterical,” she wrote. “None of that mattered to Janet; she actually just sprang into action and told people to get aspirin, water, hot sauce, and a piece of white bread. That concoction knocked me right out of my hysteria. So basically, Janet Jackson saved my life.”
In a recent interview with BET, Eve shared that writing Who’s That Girl?, released on Sept. 17, was one of the most daunting tasks she’s ever faced. She admitted that revisiting personal and vulnerable moments from her life made it a deeply emotional experience but ultimately a rewarding one. “The stuff that I talk about in the book is stuff that I have touched on a little bit, but I don't think I've gone as deep,” she said. “I have a kid now and felt like I was able to shed some things from my past and prepare people for my future and even for myself.”
The 45-year-old continued, “It's a f**king scary place to be. I'm not gonna lie. Like, this book was one of those things where I was like, ‘Oh, okay. Yay. I wrote the book, and I got s**t out.’ And then it was like, ‘Oh, s**t. I got promoted, and now I have to talk about all the shit in it. I feel naked. I ain't gonna lie. I feel super anxious. But I'm also really proud of the book because I've never taken the time to just reflect.”
