Latto Shows Support for Waffle House Employee Fired After Doing 'Brokey Challenge' at Work

The TikToker claimed she was put on the 'unable to rehire' list.

Earlier this month, Latto launched the “Brokey” challenge, inviting fans to create videos of themselves dancing to her latest track from the album Sugar Honey Iced Tea. While the trend quickly gained traction, it also led to a significant consequence for one TikToker who lost her job as a result.

Social media user Yadira Ramirez posted a 27-second video featuring herself and more than five other Waffle House employees participating in Latto’s challenge.

In less than a week, the video amassed over 23.4 million views, garnered more than 3.7 million likes, and attracted nearly 19,000 comments, showcasing the viral nature of the challenge.

However, just two days after sharing her clip, Yadira posted another video revealing that she had been fired from her job, only one day after the initial video went live.

She reported working at the restaurant for six years and was now on the “unable to rehire” list. Yadira also pointed out that she was the only employee terminated, despite the presence of two managers during the video’s filming.

Latto caught wind of Yadira’s situation and reached out to her directly. The two ladies met up at the studio on September 24th, where they danced to “Brokey” in a show of solidarity. To celebrate this unexpected partnership, Latto surprised Yadira with a cash gift, turning a challenging situation into a memorable and uplifting moment.
