Cardi B Just Won Another Award And This Female Rapper Has A Huge Problem With It
Regular, degular, sh-megular girl from the Bronx Cardi B has skyrocketed to hip-hop eminence in less than a year, and her loyal Bardi Gang fans based out of her hometown are adding more members by the second.
Another city home to a handful of hip-hop’s greats, Detroit, has also bestowed props upon Cardi by way of a Spirit of Detroit accolade. The only problem is that there’s a fellow femcee, Kash Doll, who believes she’s well-deserving of such an honor after not only putting on Detroit, but also because of her native status of America’s Comeback City.
The Kashin’ Out artist took to Twitter to air her frustrations after Cardi accepted the award, courtesy in part by Hot 107.5. To be clear, there’s no shade thrown to Cardi on Kash’s behalf, but rather her city, which she feels is “disrespectful” for handing out the award so loosely.
“I already got one,” she tweeted, informing a fan that she, too, has an award. “It’s just weird. Nothing against her, I just thought you had to put work in the city to get it like other [artists] in Detroit.”
And work is definitely Kash’s forte. Before signing with BMB Records, her Keisha vs. Kash Doll mixtape from 2015 made huge waves in the femcee circle, featuring assists from Trina, B.O.B. and Lyrica Anderson and selling 600,000 copies in just the first two days of its release. She’s also bumped elbows with Drake while performing during his Future-collaborative Summer 16 Tour.
Considering that both Cardi and Kash are pure definitions of money move makers, a collabo between the two is in order now — awards or not.
