Remy Ma Weighs In on Nicki Minaj and Lil Kim
In the six years and some change that Remy Ma had been away, a lot has happened in music. From a rapidly changing industry that is all about instant gratification and social media to a landscape that glorifies trap rap and focuses on the seemingly one-sided beef between Lil Kim and Nicki Minaj, Remy is quite clear about what keeps the negativity going.
"I think what keeps it going and on and on and on is the media and the fans and other people adding fuel to it," she said.
"It's like me. Anything I talk about on a record, I have to be talking about Nicki Minaj, that's what everyone says. We're not talking about nobody. .... You're supposed to say [that] you're the queen, you're supposed to."
Remy Ma continued, "You're not supposed to say because someone sold more records than you or has more notoriety than you, you're not supposed to come and say, 'Well, I'm second after her.' No. You're supposed to say you're the best, and that's just that."
The fiercely independent and determined MC closed by saying that if you're not the best, then it's your job to get better and become the best.
