Melania Dragged For Photo Op With Baby In Ghana While There Are Still Kids In Trump’s Border Cages

"She should be touring those tent cities in Texas."

Melania Trump arrived in Ghana to start her first major solo international trip as first lady. After landing in the capital city of Accra on Tuesday, Mrs. Trump was welcomed by traditional dancing and drumming.

Upon walking down the stairs of Air Force One, Melania was greeted by Ghana's first lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo. She was also gifted a bouquet of flowers from an 8-year-old girl in kente cloth.

  • A spokeswoman for Mrs. Trump said the first lady gave Akufo-Addo a White House tray in a signed leather case.

Afterward, the first ladies met privately at Ghana's presidential palace.

Also on Tuesday, Melania visited a baby clinic in Ghana and distributed gifts of teddy bears wrapped in baby blankets with the slogan "Be Best" from her initiative to promote awareness of childhood well-being.

  • Melania was photographed holding several Ghanaian babies from the clinic

  • The first lady's African photo op was met with criticism from people who believe she abandoned immigrant children detained at the border
