SZA Announces Split From Manager Punch: 'End of An Era'
SZA and Top Dawg Entertainment president Terrence ‘Punch’ Henderson have reportedly called it quits on an artist-manager relationship.
On Wednesday (December 25), the “LANA” singer-songwriter announced on Instagram that Punch would no longer be her manager, a little over a decade after the music industry veteran signed her to TDE. The news came as fans speculated that the two parted ways after the chaotic rollout of “LANA,” the deluxe version of SZA’s 2022 album “SOS,” which arrived late on December 20.
“Nothing to celebrate. The end of an era. I wish him the best, whatever his choices may be,” the 4-time Grammy winner wrote. “And to be clear, I love Punch deeply! No one should be attacking him or being cruel on my behalf. Sometimes, people grow apart, and that’s okay.”
Also, on Christmas, Punch made some posts on X, formerly Twitter, that seemingly alluded to the fallout with SZA, although he later asked fans about their favorite songs from “LANA.”
Earlier that day, SZA asked fans to “keep it cute” amid the controversy.” While the “Snooze” artist didn’t confirm if she’d no longer be on the TDE roster, her split with Punch comes less than a week after “LANA” was delayed to an afternoon release on a Saturday. Punch took the heat, sharing that it was his “fault” on X.
