New Music Friday: NLE Choppa, Kodak Black and Ice Spice Conclude Christmas Week With Fresh Releases
Christmas week meant new releases from the likes of Kodak Black, Ice Spice, NLE Choppa, Sault and Redman, the latter who dropped his first album in nearly a decade with “Muddy Waters Too.” While we’re still waiting on a new project from Young Thug following his 2023 LP “Business Is Business,” he’s holding us over with DSP re-releases of his 2015 mixtapes “Slime Season” and Slime Season 2.”

Ice Spice - “Y2K!: I’m Just a Girl (Deluxe)”
Bronx femcee Ice Spice follows the July release of her debut album “Y2K!” with a deluxe “I’m Just a Girl” edition with three new tracks, including “Hannah Montana” featuring NLE Choppa and DaBaby along with remixes to “BB Belt” and “Popa.”
NLE Choppa - “PICASSO: SLUFFIN SZN X SLUT SZN”
NLE Choppa goes wild for the holidays with new double-album project “PICASSO: SLUFFIN SZN X SLUT SZN,” showcasing the Memphis rapper’s versatility through love-focused material and carefree anthems. Featured guests include Summer Walker on “Stingy,” Yung Bleu on “Still At Home,” T-Pain on “Get Money,” while J.P. and Reyna Roberts appear on remixes to “Slut Me Out 2.”
Kodak Black - “Gift for the Streets”
Hitting the block for Christmas is Kodak Black with his new project, “Gift for the Streets.” The album features Southern rap veterans and contemporaries alike, including Rob49, Lil Yachty, Juvenile, BG, and the long-incarcerated C-Murder. It serves as Kodak’s follow-up to albums “Dieuson Octave” and “Trill Bill,” both of which were released in November.
Redman - “Muddy Waters Too”
Almost 30 years following his third album, “Muddy Waters,” and while he’s released new material since, Redman jumps back into the rap game with his ninth LP, “Muddy Waters Too.” The album boasts a monumental 32-song tracklist, with features from legendary rap artists like Snoop Dogg, Naughty by Nature, KRS-One, Redman’s longtime collaborator Method Man and even Shaquille O’Neal.
Sault - “Acts of Faith”
Mysterious R&B and soul group Sault, who’s led by British producer Inflo, gifted fans with their new album “Acts of Faith” in time for Christmas Day. The LP includes songs that the group debuted during their London performances in 2023, while international fans can hear spirited tracks like “Heal” and “Soul Clean” for the first time.
Young Thug - “Slime Season” and “Slime Season 2”
Young Thug’s 2015 mixtapes “Slime Season” and “Slime Season 2” remain relevant nine years later. For the holidays, the Atlanta rap icon, released from jail last month, surprised longtime fans by re-releasing the first two “Slime Season” tapes to DSPs.
