Frank Ocean Gets Back to Work on His Sophomore Album

Less than a year after a vocal injury, Frank Ocean is back to recording music for his new album.

Photographer Nabil broke the news by posting a studio shot of Ocean on Tumblr earlier today (March 24) captioned, "Frank in the lab.. Making sophomore album game."

Ocean also shared the shot on his Tumblr page

Last May, the 26-year-old singer was diagnosed with a torn vocal cord, causing him to scrap a mini-tour in Australia and to pull out of a headlining set at Drake's annual OVO Fest. The injury likely sidelined his recording schedule for a while, but it looks like the Odd Future crooner has bounced back.

As of February 2013, the "Pyramids" singer had recorded close to a dozen tracks for the new release. "I'm 10, 11 songs into this next thing," he told BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe, adding that the album's theme picks up where Channel Orange left off. "It's another cohesive thing, bordering on a concept record again," Ocean explained. "At the end of Channel Orange, there's 'Golden Girl' and it's this beach scene. And I kind of wanted to extend that feel into the next record altogether, kind of make it that theme."

Ocean isn't big on press interviews and deleted both his Twitter and Instagram accounts. Fans can now only keep up with him on Tumblr. Aside from his comments to Lowe, and speaking to MTV News about listening to a specific artist for "inspiration and to absorb the energies," the New Orleans native has been virtually silent about the sophomore effort.

The album will reportedly drop this summer
