Simone Biles Urges President Joe Biden to Take Action Following Donald Trump’s Election Win
Simone Biles wasted no time addressing President Joe Biden less than a day after Donald Trump was elected the 47th President of the United States.
In a direct message shared on social media, the gymnast urged Biden to take meaningful action before his term ends. “Mr Biden, I need you to stand up, straighten your back and make some things shake before your departure. xoxo the women in america,” Biles wrote on X (formally known as Twitter).
Earlier that day, the seven-time Olympic gold medalist shared more of her thoughts on Kamala Harris’ defeat on Threads, writing, “we deserve better” along with a broken heart emoji and adding, “I’m SO sorry America."
In related news, Harris delivered her concession speech at Howard University yesterday (Nov. 6), where her campaign had organized a large election night watch party at her alma mater. "My heart is full today," she began.
Reflecting on the election outcome, the vice president acknowledged, "The outcome of this election is not what we hoped, not what we fought, not what we voted for. But hear when I say… the light of America’s promise will always burn bright as long as we never give up and as long as we keep fighting." Harris then shared that she had spoken with Trump to congratulate him on his victory, adding, "I also told him we will help him and his team with their transition and that we will engage in a peaceful transfer of power."
Harris underscored the importance of respecting democratic principles, stating, "A fundamental principle of American democracy is that when we lose an election, we accept the results… anyone who seeks the public trust must honor it." She also emphasized a commitment beyond party lines, saying, "We owe loyalty not to a president or a party but to the Constitution of the United States."
