DDG Defends Halle Bailey Amid Kai Cenat Livestream Controversy

The rapper addressed criticism against his ex, urging fans to stop the hate and highlighting the importance of co-parenting for their son, Halo.

DDG has stepped up to defend his ex-girlfriend, Halle Bailey, after she criticized him for allowing their 10-month-old son, Halo, to appear on a live stream without her consent.

In a YouTube video shared on Thursday (Nov. 7), the “Moonwalking in Calabasas” rapper addressed the backlash Bailey has faced. “One thing I don’t like what people do, I don’t like when people hate on Halle. I don’t care if people think she wrong or not, or if I think she wrong or right.”

He expressed his understanding of what Halle might be experiencing as a new mother. “She could be going through something mentally after having a kid that I can’t understand as a man. So when situations like this happen, I try to handle it with as much grace as possible because Halo needs her, I need her, we need each other to create a childhood that’s safe and fun and memorable for him.”

Regarding fatherhood, DDG described Halo as “the biggest blessing” in his life and shared how much his son has changed him. “I don’t remember what life was like before he was born,” he said. “And I wouldn’t have him if it wasn’t for Halle, and for that reason alone, I got unconditional love and respect for her.”

He also addressed their recent breakup and the challenges of co-parenting while navigating a new dynamic. “It’s hard for us,” the Michigan native admitted. “So, when lil’ stuff like this happen, it’s really nothing. People go through this type of stuff all the time. I just don’t appreciate when people try to put me against her or me versus her and all of this, ‘She’s wrong and he’s right, blah blah blah.’ Y’all could hate on me for as long as y’all want, but leave Halle alone, man.”

DDG responded just a day after the “Little Mermaid” star publicly voiced her frustration over their son appearing on Kai Cenat’s Nov. 6 “Mafiathon 2” Twitch stream. Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), Halle wrote, “Hi everyone. Just so you know, I am out of town, and I don’t approve of my baby being on a stream tonight. I wasn’t told or notified, and I am extremely upset to have my baby in front of millions of people."

She emphasized her protective role as a mother, saying, “I am his mother and protector and saddened that I wasn’t notified, especially when I am out of town.” In a follow-up tweet, Halle shed light on her struggles, writing, “As a woman experiencing severe postpartum, there are boundaries that I wish to be respected. Nobody knows what someone is going through until they snap.” Shortly after these posts, Halle deactivated both her X and Instagram accounts.

The next day, she returned to X with a change of heart. “Yesterday maybe I did overreact and shouldn’t have brought it here,” the singer wrote. “I know that Halo is always safe with his dad. I just don’t like finding out with the rest of the world what my baby is doing. Thank u Kai for the gifts for Halo.”
