Watch the Throne Album Artwork Designed by Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci \r
Kanye West's and Jay-Z’s explosively creative album Watch the Throne is complemented by high end art created by Givenchy's acclaimed creative director, Riccardo Tisci.
After designing the cover for the rappers' collaboration “H.A.M” in 2010, Tisci was tapped to direct the artwork for the deluxe version of Watch the Throne. Through the intricate images, he celebrates what he calls, “one of the biggest joint efforts in music history.”
The gold cover was fashioned to look embroidered throughout, and the inside images were made to appear printed and painted. Tisci Couture techniques and longtime signature codes burst to life through the image printing. A release from the French fashion house notes the album's angular lines and bold colors are "symbols of masculinity for two of the most iconic rap figures of our time." Tisci also incorporates blurred religious images, architectural themes, animal faces, layering, raw materials and symmetric shapes into the powerful images that are joined by lyrics for each of the album’s tracks.
The decadent eye candy makes for some of the most exciting album artwork we’ve seen all year. Are you feeling it? Sound off! We want to hear from you.
