Isaiah Washington Parties at Gay Bar to Promote New Film
Isaiah Washington's questionable relationship with the LGBT community has put the actor in a box for years, but he seems to be making a blatant effort to show that he's down — all in the name of promotion, of course.
According to TMZ, the actor was spotted partying hard at popular gay nightclub Rage in West Hollywood promoting Blackbird with his co-star Gary LeRoi Gray. Onlookers said that the actor, who many considered to be homophobic following his 2007 incident, was drinking, dancing and turning up with the folks at the club.
Many may consider this ironic since Washington was notoriously fired from Grey's Anatomy in 2007 after using a homophobic slur.
Washington plays Lance Rousseau in Blackbird, the accepting father of Randy Rousseau (played by newcomer Julian Walker), an African-American teenager who is struggling with his sexuality while falling in love with a man. Sources close to the film state that, despite Washington's 8-year-old incident, his role is "not about redemption," he just "feels strongly about the movie's powerful message."
