Say hello to post-motherhood Allyson Felix! 

The U.S. Olympic sprinter earned a record 12th gold medal at the World Championships in Doha on Sunday (September 30th), according to CNN.

Felix’s 12th gold medal came as a member of the mixed-gender 4x400m relay team. That breaks the tie she held with Jamaican track legend Usain Bolt at 11. 

Following her victory, the official Team USA Twitter account sent a tweet congratulating Felix on the accomplishment. She quote tweeted “Humbled.”

Felix had to have an emergency C-section in 2018 due to preeclampsia.

She was also very critical of her then sponsor Nike, with regards to the financial penalties placed on sponsored athletes that elect to have children. 

Nike has since amended its policy to ensure that female athletes who choose pregnancy now have an 18-month grace period before any financial penalties can incur. 

Felix is now sponsored by Athleta and is set to represent the U.S. on her fifth Olympic team in Tokyo 2020.
