When being too cool for school goes wrong.

A Southampton, N.Y., principal is receiving a lot of negative attention over her appearance in J.R. and Trey Songz’s “Best Friend” video. Earlier this week, Ester Adler-O’Keefe has been removed from her position as assistant principal because she appeared in a video that promoted drug use.

O’Keefe, who worked at Southampton High School, was viewed by parents as a smart role model for teenagers who always had their futures her best interest. Which is why parents have voiced their displeasure over O’Keefe’s decision to be in the rap video for some screen time.

"Speaking as a private individual and not in my professional capacity, I wish to state for the record that, when I agreed to participate, I was completely unaware of the content, lyrics, and title of the video and song," she said in a statement. "Had I known of such content or lyrics, I certainly would not have participated in any fashion. I find the lyrics and content of the music video vulgar, offensive, and demeaning."  

Dr. Scott Farina, who is the superintendent, revealed in an e-mail that O’ Keefe will take on new responsibilities with district. She will oversee a variety of academic support services.
