'Average Joe': Joe Fights Fiercely, But Some Might Not Make It
We ended the previous episode of Average Joe with the inevitable faceoff between Joe and Nicolai. This week, we pick up from that moment, with Joe tied up in a chair and Nicolai being the psycho that he is. He’s punching Joe left and right and taunting him with the violence he’s planning for Joe’s daughter after she gives birth. But hold that thought.
Jen convinces Arina to join their side, and it’s not a hard sell, given that Nicolai kidnapped her daughter. Meanwhile, in case you forgot, Cathy is somewhere trying to set up a heroin empire, unbeknownst to the rest of the crew and her husband. We’ll come back to this, though.
Another loose end is Angela’s escape from the hospital. Luckily, she got away and ended up back at her house, unaware of what was happening with the others but praying that they make it home safely.
Back to the cabin in the woods. Touch, Jen, Leon, Pam, and Arina eventually enter the house. They find Joe standing over a dead Nicolai. They all dispose of his body and go on about their respective ways, but the drama is far from over. Arina is reunited with her daughter, Angela is relieved when Joe brings Jen home, Cathy presents her plan to sell Joe’s father’s heroine to Leon, and he’s into it, Touch stops by an old friend’s place with loads of cash. This part is deep. Touch had a girlfriend whose 5-year-old daughter accidentally shot and killed herself with his gun. This is the old friend he went to see, except he is faced with her mother instead because she killed herself. Both Touch and his former girlfriend carried the guilt with them for years and this is the outcome. Ultimately, the little girl’s grandmother did not receive Touch well, and we all have cause to be concerned about him. In the next scene, we see him put a gun to his mouth and then, we see the outside of his house and hear that gun go off. It’s hard to think that anything other than what we think happened happened.
However, in good news, Pam’s mom gets exonerated, and we see them reunite. Then, we end with more drama. Cathy and Leon’s drug deal goes left. She gets shot, and it looks like Leon stands over her sobbing as the life leaves her body. We don’t see her take her last breath before Leon shoots the dealer who did it, but this is another situation that doesn’t look good. Finally, Joe finds a note from Angela that she ran away with Jen. Angela is tired of being a ride-or-die.
It isn’t looking good for any of them, especially Touch and Cathy, but we won’t know where this goes unless Average Joe gets a season two. What did you think of the show?
