Chance the Rapper’s Wife of 5 Years, Kirsten Corley, Files for Divorce
Chance the Rapper and his wife of five years, Kirsten Corley, are reportedly headed towards divorce.
On Tuesday, December 17, TMZ reported that Corley, who wed Chance, born Chancelor Bennett, in 2019, filed for divorce. The couple share two daughters, Kensli, 9, and Marli, 5, both of whom live with Corley.
Corley cited irreconcilable differences as her reasons for moving forward with divorce just eight months after she and Bennett announced their separation. According to a Cook County, Illinois, petition for divorce obtained by TMZ, the couple has a prenuptial agreement, and Corley is seeking child support.
In April, Bennett and Corley revealed via their Instagram Stories that they had decided to split up. “After a period of separation, the two of us have arrived at the decision to part ways. We came to this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together,” the statement read. “God has blessed us with two beautiful daughters who we will continue to raise together. We kindly ask for privacy and respect as we navigate this transition. Thank you.”
Bennett and Corle began dating in 2013, although the rapper once posted a Twitter, now X, thread about meeting his wife when they were both children.
Speculation that the couple had broken up surfaced last April when Bennett was seen in a video catching a grind from a woman who wasn’t his wife at Jamaica’s Carnival. Corley would follow the viral clip with a highlighted passage from Maya Angelou’s Letter to My Daughter about those who refuse to grow up.
Bennett dedicated his debut album, The Big Day, to his wife just months after their marriage.
