Al Roker Talks Self-Care Amid Recovery From Knee Surgery
Al Roker is on the mend after having a total knee replacement, and now he is incorporating a new habit in his self-care regimen.
On Sunday (July 23), the beloved weatherman took to social media to share how he has been since undergoing surgery, as reported by TODAY. In his post, he shared two videos on Instagram of his very first lake walk.
In the first video, Roker takes it easy in a black and green cap while rocking a pair of tortoiseshell eyeglasses. "This is my first lake walk since my knee surgery, and it feels good. Not going hog wild, not getting nutty, just taking my time, but enjoying the day," he said in the video.
Then he spoke to his followers about the importance of doing something that benefits their health and wellness.
"Do something for you today where you take care of yourself. Because as we go into next week, you know, if you haven’t taken care of yourself, you can’t take care of other folks,” he said.
The caption for the video reiterated the same message. “A #happysunday to everyone. Hope you get to make this a #selfcaresunday and take a little time for yourself #starttoday
Roker's second video featured picturesque views and a familiar face, his doting wife, Deborah Roberts. "Who do I spy with my little eye but the fabulous Deb Roberts!" he said. As the couple met each other on the side of the roadway away from moving traffic, he asked her about running.
She said, "It was good. Just at the very end I got a little tweak in my knee so I stopped my run here just a little shy of the finish line.”
But Roker kept it positive, he said, "But you did it!" She agreed, “I did it. That’s what it’s all about.”
With those words, Al moved on to a fun version of "Hokey Pokey," in which she playfully gestured for him to knock it off.
