Al Roker Celebrates His 69th Birthday
Al Roker is thankful for another birthday.
With a heart full of gratitude, the Today show weatherman celebrated another trip around the sun on August 20 (Sunday). However, as reported by the outlet, the celebration kicked off early on Friday's broadcast when Grammy-award winner Jon Batiste serenaded him.
On his actual birthday, Roker began his day bright and early with a sweet post to his followers on social media explaining why this birthday was so special to him.
"This is my 69th anniversary of orbiting the sun, and after everything I went through at the end of last year, I am more than grateful to be celebrating this birthday," he said while walking by a lake.
“A lot to be grateful for on this birthday and I’m glad to be alive,” he continued.
He also expressed gratitude for his family, including his wife, Deborah Roberts, "for getting me out of the hospital."
In January, Roker returned to Today after being hospitalized due to blood clots in November 2022. During a conversation with Maria Shriver, Roberts said that moment in their life was “the worst roller coaster ride you have ever been on” and that his loved ones “really did think we were going to lose him.”
Roker also thanked everyone who supported him during that harrowing time. He continued, “And to all of you who sent good wishes and well wishes over this past year, God bless you. Thank you so much.”
Additionally, he acknowledged his son Nick, and daughters Leila and Courtney, who recently had an adorable baby girl, Sky Clara, who he is smitten over.
Although it was Roker's big day, it was still a day committed to his fatherly duties. In his video, he also said he would drive Nick back to college for his sophomore year.
