Actor Jay Ellis and actress and model Nina Senicar reportedly tied the knot during a lavish Tuscany garden wedding recently.

According to Vogue, the wedding was a longtime coming as the two became engaged in January 2019, and began planning their wedding shortly after. “We always knew we wanted to get married in Italy because going there was the first trip we ever took together,” Senicar told the publication.

Vogue reports that the couple began scouring Italy for a venue, and reviewed around 15 between Rome, Puglia, and Tuscany. Eventually, they settled on Villa Mangiacane, a property surrounded by vineyards and olive groves in a small town called San Casciano in Tuscany.

That said, their original wedding date of July 9, 2020 had to be pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “At the time, Italy was one of the hardest hit areas in the world, on a strict lockdown and closed to tourists,” Ellis remembers. “Like everyone else in the world, we weren’t sure how widespread it would be or how long any of it would last, so we had to cancel everything.”

To comply with the situation, Ellis and Senicar moved their wedding date to exactly two years later – July 9, 2022. “As the world slowly started to open up in 2021, we had a family loss that caused us to be away from home for about eight or nine months which resulted in our having to change our plans again,” Nina said to Vogue. “And we finally landed on July 9, 2022.”

Due to extremely busy schedules, the couple spent a few weeks in March reviewing flowers, food, linens, plates, glassware and more in person, according to Senicar.

As for the attire, Senicar wore a Dolce & Gabbana dress while Ellis donned a suit of the same brand. Reflecting on the special day, Nina says the whole experience was amazing.

“I am still processing everything, but I am beyond happy that all of our friends got together to celebrate our love,” she noted. “We just really wanted everybody to have a good time and get to know each other. And most importantly, dance. We come from two completely different sides of the world, different cultures, and backgrounds, and it was magical to see how all of that got mixed together in such a beautiful and spontaneous way with the people we love the most.”
