Cast Assembled for BET's Comedy Series Y.M.O.C.

Get ready for Young Man On Campus.

The cast for BET’s comedy pilot Y.M.O.C. (Young Man on Campus) has been solidified.

Starring Jacob Latimore as 15-year-old college prodigy Jacob Matthews, the series will focus on Mathews as he shares a dorm room with his cousin Marco, who is the school’s basketball star. The characters were originally introduced in a December episode of BET’s comedy series Reed Between the Lines. While Latimore and Eric D. Hill Jr., who played Marco, will reprise their roles, the role of Jacob’s widowed mother — originally played by Dawnn Lewis — will be recast. Reportedly, Terri Vaughn (The Steve Harvey Show) is in talks for the role.

Actor Dondre Whitfied has been cast as Professor Derek Watson, the man who discovered the prodigy and is Jacob’s mentor. Vanessa S. Simmons will star as campus hottie Aliyah, who Jacob and Marco both have their eye on.

Y.M.O.C. will be written and executive produced by Jacque Edmonds Cofer, who is executive producer of Reed and also the creator/executive producer of the BET comedy series Let’s Stay Together.
