Whitney Houston’s Autopsy Report Confirms "White Powder" Found in Hotel
Nearly two months after Whitney Houston was found dead at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office has released a full report on the cause of death. It concludes that Houston died from an accidental drowning and the “effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use,” and confirms the presence of white powder at the scene.
In it, the description of the scene in her hotel room noted: "Located on the south portion of the counter was a small spoon with a white crystal-like substance in it and a rolled up piece of white paper…. Located in the top drawer in the north side of the counter were remnants of a white powdery substance, and a portable mirror on a base." The report does not explicitly say the substance is cocaine, but a preliminary toxicology report found cocaine in her system.
The autopsy also found a perforation of Houston’s nasal septum, which is listed as a sign of her drug use history, and it did not reveal any track marks on her extremities. Her right coronary artery was also 60 percent narrowed. The responding officers initially noted that her death might have been caused by an accidental overdose of narcotics, prescription medications, over the counter meds and alcohol, but this final report didn’t find the other drugs in her system. The Beverly Hills Police Department was waiting for the report to close the case on Houston. A statement had not yet been released at press time.
