Charlamagne Gives Positive Update on Wendy Williams Amid Health Concerns
Charlamagne tha God is refuting claims that his former mentor and longtime friend Wendy Williams is “incapacitated” amid reports of her declining health.
During the Tuesday (Jan 7) “Breakfast Club” episode, the radio personality offered a glimmer of hope for the former talk show queen, noting that the pair reconnected over the holiday season.
“I spoke to Wendy over the holidays. She was… seemed perfectly fine to me,” the co-host shared, adding, “Wendy sound like she can do radio tomorrow if she wanted to.”
“I don’t know what ‘incapacitated’ means in regards to dementia or whatever they said she was dealing with, but no, ain’t nothing incapacitated about Wendy Williams,” Charlamagne emphasized.
The cultural commentator’s remarks come after reports from last year painted a much bleaker image of Williams’ health. Legal documents obtained by People described her as “cognitively impaired, permanently disabled, and legally incapacitated,” according to her court-appointed guardian.
When asked about her energy during their call, he assured co-hosts DJ Envy and Jess Hilarious, “She sound like Wendy Williams! I’m trying to tell you, she didn’t skip a beat.”
Charlamagne revealed that Williams even called him out for not sounding excited enough during their conversation and joked about his phone slipping into “recording” mode.
“She’s perfectly normal,” he added, dismissing rumors about her inability to function. Williams recently made two rare public sightings in December. On Dec. 15, blogger Antoine Edwards shared a clip of Williams outside a seafood restaurant in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, smiling and greeting employees with her signature catchphrase, “How you doing?” Days later, on Dec. 19, she appeared at her son Kevin Jr’s graduation.
