Meghan Markle Says She’s ‘Cried Too Many Tears’ After Death of Beagle Guy

The Duchess of Sussex thanked her fallen beagle for “many years of unconditional love.”

Meghan Markle wrote a final goodbye to her beloved rescue beagle, Guy, on Instagram this week.

The Duchess of Sussex wrote a lengthy caption dedicated to Guy, who she adopted in 2015, alongside a montage showing the pup comforting Markle, her husband, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and their son, Prince Archie of Sussex, 5.

Markle broke the news on Tuesday, January 7. “In 2015, I adopted a beagle from a dog rescue in Canada. He had been at a kill shelter in Kentucky and given a few days to live. I swooped him up….and fell in love,” she began.

“They referred to him as ‘the little guy’ because he was so small and frail, so I named him ‘Guy’. And he was the best guy any girl could have asked for.”

Markle recounted the life experiences that Guy had gone through with her, including her engagement and marriage to Prince Harry and an accident where Guy underwent surgeries for seven months.

Markle added that Guy was such a dedicated part of her life, that he’ll make posthumous cameos in her new Netflix lifestyle series, “With Love, Meghan.”

“I have cried too many tears to count - the type of tears that make you get in the shower with the absurd hope that the running water on your face will somehow make you not feel them, or pretend they’re not there. But they are. And that’s okay too,” she continued.

“Thank you for so many years of unconditional love, my sweet Guy. You filled my life in ways you’ll never know ❤️‍.🩹As ever, Meghan.”

Guy was rescued at A Dog’s Dream Rescue in Ontario, Canada after being recovered from Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, kill shelter Montgomery County Animal Shelter.
