Jay-Z broke the mold when he became the first hip-hop artist to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. But it looks like he is about to be joined by some more good company. Jermaine Dupri is reportedly among the 2018 pool of inductees to be honored with the songwriters milestone, according to Billboard.

Linda Moran, president and CEO of the hall of fame committee, issued a statement to the Associated Press, commenting on this year’s inductees. “The 2018 roster of Songwriters Hall of Fame inductees is a prodigious representation of creators of cross-genre hits, certain to resonate with everyone,” Moran stated. “Each year, the slate of songwriters we induct is more diverse and illustrative of the history and contributions that we strive to acknowledge and honor.”

Jermaine Dupri is responsible for shaping a whole era of hip-hop and R&B from the '90s all the way into the mid-2000s. His songwriting credits include work for Xscape, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Usher, Jagged Edge and Bow Wow.

Dupri will be joining a number of greats including Jay, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, Berry Gordy and more. In addition to the recent announcement, Dupri is slated to receive the Breaking Barriers Award at the Global Spin Awards in Feb. 2018. The Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Gala will reportedly be held on June 14 in New York City.
