Sandra Bullock Adopts a Baby Girl From Louisiana
Sandra Bullock is a mom again! The actress revealed to People on Wednesday that she has adopted a baby girl named Laila from Louisiana. Bullock previously denied the adoption when the news first broke in October, and says she would have happily kept the news private had it not been for a paparazzo who caught a glimpse of the 3-year-old during a visit to the emergency room.
“Unbeknownst to me, a photographer had followed us and taken a photo of us in line,” Bullock stated. “The next day, I learned that a photo of her was being shopped around for sale to every outlet around the world. I had promised and legally agreed to protect her from something like this, and here I was chasing down lawyers — having them begging them to keep her safe."
She adds that her son, Louis, also adopted from Louisiana, was behind the decision to formally adopt Laila after she had spent some time living with them in foster care. “Louis spearheaded this whole journey,” she says. “I knew she was scared, and all I wanted was for her to know Louis and I weren’t going anywhere."
Sandra has been very vocal about being a mother to Black kids, telling us back in October (see the video below) that she "absolutely" talks to her son about racism. The Oscar winner seems to be a great mom, so we're sure she's practicing those bantu knots for little Laila as we speak!
Congratulations to Bullock, Louis and the rest of their growing family.
