Lizzo And DaBaby's 'Truth Hurts' Remix Has The Internet Divided
As two of 2019’s biggest hip-hop breakout stars, it was only right that Detroit bopstress Lizzo and Charlotte’s No. 1 banger champ DaBaby join forces before the year is up.
The pair picked Lizzo’s 2017-revived sleeper hit single “Truth Hurts” as their lyrical link up location, which dropped Friday (August 23).
Lizzo’s social media teasers for the remix already had fans on edge about what to expect on a collaboration from such incredibly unique artists.
They got their answer within the first minute of the track after DaBaby synced a borrowed bar from Lizzo and his signature chocolatey Black swag to usher in his verse. “I took a DNA test and it told me I’m the prettiest chocolate n**ga/ Out here with some good d**k (no cap),” he spits. “And I can have a b**ch from Harvard with a eight-year degree/ I probably still’d rather pull up with a hood b**ch.” From there, the Baby on Baby emcee flaunts his Ménage a trois taste before surrendering to an undeniable love for his BBW.
Some Lizzbians fell in love with the mix at first-listen, rating it a certified flamer. But others decided they could have done just fine without DaBaby’s “Truth Hurts” bars. See which fans are standing on either side of the fence, and do your own comparison of the remix and multiplatinum OG version below:
