The minute Kevin Durant announced that he's leaving Oklahoma City to join the Golden State Warriors more than three weeks ago, we all knew that he left the Thunder gutted as a shell of its former franchise.

Needless to say, he also left teammate Russell Westbrook high and dry, left wondering whether to stay in OKC or skip town just like KD.

What makes the situation even more painful for Russ to digest is that ESPN.com reporter Royce Young recently shared that KD had allegedly informed Westbrook and other people in the Thunder organization that he would be re-signing with the team this summer.

"Three weeks ago, Kevin Durant's sitting there at dinner, telling him, 'Hey, I'm coming back, man. Don't worry about it,'" Young said on the ESPN True Hoop podcast about what KD allegedly told Russ. "And now, Russell Westbrook has been kind of thrown into this in having to decide his future a summer earlier than expected."

Young added, "Kevin Durant, more so than even that, was telling people, 'Hey, yeah, I mean, I'm coming back.' Like I said in there, a week before Kevin Durant sat down in the Hamptons, he was in Oklahoma City ready to make an offer on a multi-million-dollar house. So, the guy was pretty serious about coming back, and then things turned rather quickly for him to leave. And there's no doubt that the organization felt a little burned by this."

The organization — including Russ. If this report is indeed accurate, it should help explain why Durant himself said that their "relationship won't ever be the same again" just over a week after making the splashy move. Days later, Durant added that Westbrook wasn't a factor in him leaving OKC.

We wondered what burned Russ and the Thunder more: KD allegedly telling them that he was going to re-sign before going back on his word or him joining the Warriors team that OKC blew a 3-1 lead against in the Western Conference Finals just this past May?

And that's not even bringing up the fact that Durant is stacking the deck, signing with a Warriors team that went an NBA-best 73-9 last year, came within seconds of winning two straight titles and has three fellow All-Stars in back-to-back MVP Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.

That being said, we can't wait for Russ to face KD next season, regardless of what team Westbrook might be playing for. It should go from zero to a hundred real quick.
