Photo of the Day: Obama and the 1963 Loyola Chicago Ramblers

The 1963 Loyola University Chicago Ramblers meet with President Obama at the White House.

President Obama welcomed members of Loyola University’s 1963 NCAA men's basketball championship team to the Oval Office today.
The Loyola Ramblers, which featured four African-American starters, is regarded for promoting racial integration in college basketball. During a match-up now dubbed “The Game of Change,” the Chicago team defeated the all-white Mississippi State team 61-51.
The Mississippi State team had defied the state's governor, who heavily opposed playing an integrated team at the time.
