UPDATE: Laura Ingraham Responds To Backlash After She Said 'Shut Up And Dribble' To LeBron and Kevin Durant

She also invited LeBron James to come on her show.

UPDATE:

Laura Ingraham has issued a statement trying to explain her use of the controversial phrase "shut up and dribble" in regards to LeBron James' criticism of Donald Trump in an interview he did with Kevin Durant and Uninterrupted’s Cari Champion.

In the statement, Ingraham says she first time she told someone to "shut up" and simply do the thing they're most known for was back and 2003 and has been doing it since.

"In 2003, I wrote a New York Times bestseller called 'Shut Up & Sing,' in which I criticized celebrities like the Dixie Chicks & Barbra Streisand who were trashing then-President George W. Bush. I have used a variation of that title for more than 15 years to respond to performers who sound off on politics. I’ve told Robert DeNiro to 'Shut Up & Act,' Jimmy Kimmel to 'Shut Up & Make Us Laugh,' and just this week told the San Antonio Spurs’ Gregg Popovich to 'Shut up & Coach.' If pro athletes and entertainers want to freelance as political pundits, then they should not be surprised when they’re called out for insulting politicians. There was no racial intent in my remarks - false, defamatory charges of racism are a transparent attempt to immunize entertainment and sports elites from scrutiny and criticism. Additionally, we stated on my show that these comments came from an ESPN podcast, which was not the case - the content was unaffiliated with ESPN."

Uh yeah. That's all well and good but Ingraham also said his remarks were "barely intelligible" and "ungrammatical." She even came back from a break and made fun of how Kevin Durant said "ran" instead of "run," implying that he isn't an inteligent human.

Laura, cut the BS. We know what you were doing. You attempted to tear down two African American role models who have done way more for their communities than you have. They're also far more than basketball players.

Also, your premise that they should expect criticism is great, but you didn't offer a critique of what they said. You just made fun of how they said it – in an elitist tone – then told them they should shut up and not "run their mouths."

Oh and BTW, LeBron did finish high school. Get your facts straight.

A Trump defender calling someone else's remarks "ungrammatical." The irony.

PREVIOUS:

Laura Ingraham got hella criticism for the “shut up and dribble” remark, among others, she made about LeBron James after he criticized Donald Trump in an interview he did with Kevin Durant and Uninterrupted’s Cari Champion.

Many rightfully found it racist that the Fox News host believed a basketball player’s value is simply their profession, especially considering everything LBJ’s done for his community.

After LeBron James responded to Ingraham’s hateful comments with the utmost class, saying he and other athletes won’t be silenced, Ingraham released a statement saying that she’s told other non-politicians to shut up (maybe she should consider the president).

In a statement released on Friday, Becky, oops, Laura said there was “no racial intent in my remarks” and dismissed those claims as “an attempt to immunize entertainment and sports elites from scrutiny and criticism.”

Oh yeah, and then she invited him on her show.

We're behind him whether or not he does decide to go on Ingraham's show, but really, it's not worth his time.
