In a video recently obtained by AFP, the Nigerian radical group Boko Haram mocks the social media and protest campaign #BringBackOurGirls, which emerged after the Islamists abducted more than 200 schoolgirls in April.

Several gunmen and two armored personnel carriers are seen flanking Boko Haram’s leader Abu Bakr Shekau as he jumps around and dances. The girls, however, are not pictured in the video.

"Bring Back Our Girls... bring back our army,” he reportedly said in the 16-minute clip.

The latter demand refers to a previous offer that the hostages could be released if Nigeria releases detained Boko Haram fighters held in custody, according to AFP. Shekau also claimed responsibility for recent bombings in the capital of Abuja and in Lagos.

"We were the ones who detonated the bomb in filthy Abuja," he said.

During their ongoing battle to create a strict Islamic state in Nigeria’s predominantly Muslim north, Boko Haram’s insurgency is estimated to have killed more than 10,000 people since 2009.
