Amber Rose Reveals to Jason Lee How She Went From Broke to Millionaire Status After Split From Kanye West
Amber Rose is getting candid on how she leveled up following her break up with Kanye West.
These two were considered the “it” couple, but after two years of dating, they called it quits. Now, Rose is speaking out in a new interview on “The Jason Lee Show," set to air on Tuesday (March 12) at 10 a.m. EST, on how she reclaimed her finances by charting her own course.
After her split from West, Amber alleged “constant bullying” from the “Donda” rapper.
While talking to Lee, Amber reflected on how dire her situation really was.
“When I left I had no money. I had absolutely nothing. I had no money at all. I had nothing,” while adding "I had a passport," she told host, Lee.
Following her break up with the Grammy winner, Rose found a new apartment and “literally begged the owner of the building” for a vacant unit.
After that, Rose created her first social media account on Twitter (now known as X) and then called Nicki Minaj for a request that could make all of her financial woes disappear.
“Sis, can you please just tweet that I have a Twitter?” she remembered asking the “Super Freaky Girl” rapper. After that moment, Rose said she gained approximately “350,000 followers in 24 hours.”
To capitalize on her newfound social media fame, Rose created an email address for promotional bookings while managing her own appearances “on the chitlin circuit.”
“I was doing North Carolina, Memphis, Atlanta” while charging $2500 “all in” for public appearances at events.
Still, over a decade later, Rose said she faces backlash behind her fame.
“But I did it, by myself. I did the groundwork,” said the "I Hope They're Not Listening" podcast host. “I got my own money.”
She also revealed she made her first million dollars in 2011.
