B.B. King’s daughters have hired an attorney to look deeper into his death, and finances, amid allegations that the late blues legend's manager was stealing from him, according to reports from the Assocaited Press. 

Benjamin Crump, former lawyer to the families of Trayvon Martin and Mike Brown, appeared with Patty King and Karen Williams on Friday (June 12) in Las Vegas to discuss the role he'll play in the case. Crump saidy that his independent investigation is to determine “the truth” about the 89-year-old musician's death last month, reportedly from natural causes.

LaVerne Toney, King’s manager, was granted power of attorney over his estate but has been accused of stealing his money. During his final days, a judge ruled that Toney did not neglect the musician, as had been claimed. 

To that end, Crump maintained that he wasn’t hired to place blame on Toney. "They're not being accusatory,” he said of King's daughters. “They just want to find out the truth of all that happened with their father.”   

Crump is working with the family’s lawyer, Larissa Drohobyczer, who represents five of King’s 11 living children. "I don't know if that is the case," said Crump. "I'm coming in with a fresh set of eyes to review all these matters.”

Toney’s attorney, Brent Bryson, called the allegation against her “absolutely false and without merit.”

King’s estate is estimated to be worth between $5 and $10 million. A court hearing on the matter is scheduled for June 25.
