Redman Says He Doesn’t ‘Hang Out With Rappers,’ Including Method Man

The rapper called his friend group “very small.”

They might be longtime collaborators, but don’t expect Redman and Method Man to kick it randomly.

Redman was a guest on the March 21 episode of the “Julian Dorey Podcast,” where, around the 1:55:00 mark of the video below, he was asked whether he and Method Man “hang out.” The rappers released their first collaborative album, “Blackout!” in 1999, followed by two follow-up LPs, “How High” (which accompanied their 2001 stoner movie) and “Blackout 2!”

“Hell no!” Redman responded to the question. “We do shows and we come back home. I don’t hang out with a lot of rappers at all. This is work, this is home. We’re very inclusive with our movement. Once we’re off the road, we’re like, ‘Alright. You got family to deal with, I got s** I gotta do.’ My circle is very small. So we all have different lives.”

Redman added that while he doesn’t “hang out with rappers,” he “might call” them and named a few hip-hop acts he’s friendly with. “Wu [-Tang] Clan is my crew or whatever, but it's a lot of artists that we might chop it up on the phone but, no,” he continued. “The only artists I hang out with is my boy DoItAll from Lords of the Underground and Treach if I see him in the hood and that’s about it. And Kid Capri. Kid Capri is my big bro. I talk to him and go see him all the time. But he’s not a rapper though. He’s a DJ. One of the best.”

While Method has mostly been on an acting streak, next starring in the upcoming action-thriller Shadow Force, Redman released his ninth solo album, “Muddy Waters Too,” last December.
