Man Brutally Murders His Ex in Front of Her 4-Year-Old Daughter and 14-Year-Old Son

Police say Latrese Morris Dorsey died in her son's arms.

A 43-year-old mother of three was gunned down in her Detroit home on Father’s Day and family members believe they know the suspect.

On Father’s Day, Latrese Morris Dorsey was shot and killed. Two of Dorsey’s three children, 4-year-old Jade and 14-year-old Justin, were present during the shooting. According to police, Dorsey took her final breath in Justin’s arms.

Although police are still searching for the suspect, Megan Morris, Dorsey’s sister, believes it was an angry ex-boyfriend.

"I hate that he had that power to take that life from us, from her kids, from her father on Father's Day," Morris told WJBK.

According to Morris, her sister recently moved into the home after getting out of a relationship, but apparently the ex, Earl Maxwell, was not ready to move on.

Dorsey’s family is heartbroken about the death and cannot believe she was taken on Father’s Day.

"His daughters are all he has. For him to get this call on Father's Day — the one day where he's supposed to be celebrating with his girls — he gets a call saying this coward ripped his life from him," Morris said about her father James Morris.

James Morris, 72, explained how his daughter’s death deeply hurt him.

"I had three daughters — I had three beautiful daughters — and he put a hole in my heart," he said.

According to police, Dorsey was shot five times.

Authorities are now searching for Maxwell, whom they believe to be a person of interest. Maxwell is a Black male, 38, 5-foot-8, heavy build, bald, has a beard, his teeth are stained yellow and he frequently wears sunglasses. He also has a tattoo of "Latrese" written on his left arm.

"If you see this guy, don't approach him. Dial 911. Call the police, let them take care of it," James Morris said.
