Hip Hop Video of the Year 2006
At the first-ever BET Hip Hop Awards, Atlanta native T.I. took home the win for “Hip Hop Video of the Year” for his 2006 hit single ”What You Know,” the lead single from his fourth studio album King. The vintage track interpolates Roberta Flack's version of The Impressions's "Gone Away" and the song "Hey Joe,” popularized by Jimi Hendrix. T.I. won in this category again in 2009 for his song “Live Your Life,” featuring Rihanna.

At the 2020 BET Hip Hop Awards, Atlanta hometown hero Lil Baby was honored with the “Impact Track” for his protest song “The Bigger Picture.” The single was released in the wake of the murder of George Floyd and called for justice against police brutality in the United States and systemic racism.
