Jay-Z's 40/40 Club Reopens After Health Department Shutdown
After a star-studded grand re-opening of Jay-Z's original 40/40 club last Wednesday, which was attended by everyone from Swizz Beatz, Russell Simmons and billionaire Warren Buffet, the famed New York City hotspot was shut down by the health department a day later.
According to TMZ.com, a rep for 40/40, Ron Berkowitz, says one of refrigerator engines blew right before NYC health inspectors arrived causing temperatures in the fridge to rise. But kitchen staff detected the problem immediately and had no intentions of using the food from the broken Frigidaire. Still, inspectors hit the nightclub with a slew of violations forcing them to close their doors.
But in true Jigga fashion — "difficult takes an hour, impossible takes a week" — repairs were made by noon the next day and the club was permitted to reopen. Berkowitz says the club lost no business due to the violation and the health grade is now pending.
So don't fret you would-be 40/40 club goers, that swanky Super Bowl party you were hoping to attend in two weeks is still on deck.
