The military-grade weapon that Jeezy was arrested for, after it was discovered during a search of his tour bus in connection to a fatal shooting in Mountain View, Calif., last month, belongs to his security chief and is legally registered.

The security guard was unable to cop to ownership of the assault rifle as he was hospitalized from a gunshot wound in a separate incident, and word is Jeezy and his entourage attempted to explain that to police.

The shooting that apparently triggered the search occurred backstage at the Shoreline Amphitheatre on one of the Under the Influence of Music dates. The victim, Eric Johnson, 38, was a concert promoter.

Jeezy's tour bus was tracked down in Irvine, Calif., two days later. A statement from the police revealed, "MVPD detectives are aggressively following up on all leads."

The rapper and five members of his entourage were arrested when multiple guns were found on board, including the AK-47, "because no one claimed ownership," police said, according to TMZ.

The license holder, his tour security chief, was busy suffering from a bullet hole in his arm, injured while caught in the crossfire that left Suge Knight riddled with six shots at 1Oak nightclub in West Hollywood the night before Johnson was gunned down.

Official reports show that Jeezy and his entourage tried to make that clear to police. Jeezy himself wasn't even in the same cabin of the bus where the gun was found, and it was kept in a closed case. However, they didn't take his word for it, and he was held on a $1 million bond.

Jeezy pleaded not guilty, posted bail and has continued to tour since, including a stop by the Tonight Show and a concert with Akon, Fabolous and Remy Ma, and in NYC, celebrating the release of his new album, Seen It All.
