Outrage After Video Reveals Cops Fatally Shot A 17-Year-Old Black Boy While He Was Running Away

Antwon Rose was shot three times from behind.

Residents in East Pittsburgh are demanding answers after a 17-year-old Black boy was fatally shot from behind by police on Tuesday night.

Antwon Rose was taken to McKeesport Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Neighbors recorded the incident on video, which showed Rose running away from an officer when he was shot, reported KDKA 2.

According to East Pittsburgh police, officers were responding to a report of shots fired and when they arrived on scene, they found a 22-year-old man had been shot in the abdomen.

People who called 911 reported seeing a car fleeing the scene. When police located what they believed was the same car, they approached the vehicle.

While an East Pittsburgh police officer was arresting the driver, two young passengers ran from the car, including Rose.

The officer opened fire and Rose was hit multiple times.

Although police found two weapons inside the vehicle, no weapons were found on Rose.

“Why did they have to shoot when he’s running away? Where is the justification in that? How were you scared when he’s running away from you,” resident Selena Brookins asked KDKA.

Rose was known as a smart and funny child who volunteered at The Free Store, which is run by Braddock Mayor John Fetterman’s wife, Gisele.

“He was a funny, goofy kid who loved chasing children around the store,” Gisele Fetterman told KDKA.

Police are still looking for the third person that was in that car and took off. Police are asking that he turn himself in.

The officer who shot Rose has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the results of the investigation.
