Vin Diesel Is the “Action Star of the Year”

The actor to receive award at inaugural CinemaCon Big Screen Achievement Awards.

Action movie hero Vin Diesel will be presented with the Action Star of the Year Award at the inaugural CinemaCon Big Screen Achievement Awards ceremony on March 31 in Las Vegas.

CinemaCon’s official sponsor, the Coca-Cola Company, will host the final night gala awards program.

“Since his star-making turn in The Fast and the Furious,” said Mitch Neuhauser, managing director of CinemaCon, in a statement, “Vin Diesel has continued to build an impressive film resume that includes the cult favorite Pitch Black, action-thriller xXx, the science-fiction feature The Chronicles of Riddick, the drama Boiler Room and the comedy The Pacifier… With the upcoming all-star reunion in Fast Five, sure to thrill audiences around the world, we are excited to be able to honor him with the CinemaCon Action Star of the Year Award.”

Before he became an action hero, Diesel rose to stardom via his breakout role in the 1998 Oscar-winning film Saving Private Ryan.
