There's no doubt 2017 was the year in which merch and "woke" apparel collided to make an icky-feeling hellscape of fashion activism. The ickiness is steeped in garments that come from an inauthentic place, like the "nasty woman" T-shirts that got reproduced so swiftly, people were buying them in droves in an attempt to make a statement — and not paying mind to whether or not the product they purchased would give a kickback to the very organizations that support the woke message.

So when we heard that Malcolm X's daughters had started a fashion line commemorating their dad's iconic presence, aptly called Malcolm X Legacy, we were all ears. 

The brand's inaugural collection boasts sweatshirt, T-shirt, and accessories offerings, and soon plans to sell artwork as well, according to the website. In particular, we're really into this "By Any Means Necessary" long-sleeve tee ($44.99), which looks like concert merch at first glance, and this "Logo Hat" ($32.99).

In the time since Malcolm X intially fought for freedom, grave injustices still exist, as we know all too well. What better way to honor his legacy, spread his message, and support the cause that would eventually claim his life than buying this legitimately good merch?
