Floyd Mayweather Knocks Out Conor McGregor

The referee called the fight in the 10th round.

As everyone expected, Floyd Mayweather defeated Conor McGregor in what turned out to be a pretty exciting fight.

  • After winning the first few rounds, McGregor seemed to indicate that the fight would be lasting longer than most anticipated, but by the sixth round, things were not looking good for the Irishman.

    According to CompuBox ShoStats, Mayweather outlanded McGregor 130-60 in Rounds 6 through 10 after McGregor mounted a 51-40 edge through the first five rounds.

    Mayweather landed 170 of his 320 punches, the last few of which, put McGregor in serious jeopardy when referee Byrd jumped in at the end of round 10 to end it.

    “I think we gave the world a heck of a fight,” Mayweather after the fight. “It was the same gameplan. I wanted to stay going straight ahead. I thought if I stayed going straight ahead I would be able to get him. I really wanted to get him.”

    Money Mayweather moves past Rocky Marciano in wins to put him at a perfect 50-0. He also confirmed that Saturday night’s bout would be the last of his career.

    McGregor, on the other hand, said this may be just his first boxing effort. Post match, he says he believes the fight shouldn’t have been stopped and that he could’ve come back, even though his chances of winning were slim to none after Mayweather landed three powerful jabs to knock him to the ropes.
